Fax: Print faxes error "An error occurred on attempt to automatically print fax..."

I am having a problem auto-printing my faxes from the RingCentral Desktop app on my Windows 10 PC to my printer. It was working fine before the update, but one of my employees accidentally updated the desktop app today. I have 2 computers and the other one was updated months ago. The error I see says " An error occurred on attempt to automatically print fax. Please check your printer settings." I have checked the settings but am unsure what is wrong. I can print the faxes manually from the ringcentral app after opening it in the PDF reader but it is not working automatically. I have uninstalled both ringenctral and my printer and have added both back but that still was not the solution. I also tried running the problem in Windows 7 mode but that also did not work. Has anyone had this problem?

I reported this problem over a year ago and it's still hasn't been fixed. The rep tried to tell me to manually print them but I receive over 200 pages of faxes a day. I can't just sit around and print them or wait to troubleshoot this problem. It's just so frustrating too. It's quite hard for me to find time to call during when my business is open and now it's 9 pm here and I see that my Ringcentral account no longer allows me to call support on a 24/7 nature.

Dom -  I see Support was able to assist you in resolving this issue by installing an adobe reader, setting it as a default reader, and clicking the box in the Softphone to  always allow this as a default program.

Just checking in!

Dom - I see you have an open case with Tier 2 (04909962).  I will review your case notes....

Thank you and if it is any help I had this same problem a year ago and it went unresolved then too. I just transitioned the auto print to my other computer that had not updated the RC desktop software. At that time, I had even completely reinstalled windows 10 and yet the problem persisted. I had support remotely go into my computer and check things out. I also spent over 3 hours on the phone with support to no avail. I just don't have any more computers at my office to try this on.

I also had an ATA device since I started with RC(over 6 years ago) but that proved to be nonfunctional as there were problems from day 1 of my time with RC. This will not be an option for me. I have quite literally spent a few days (in talking time) total now speaking with RC trying to get the ATA device problem resolved where even Tier 1 support in northern California had suggested just going to the desktop software.

Thank you Kim.

I was trying to comb through you old cases and find the one that specifically relates to this one...do you know which case it was?

Login to http://success.ringcentral.com/RCContactSupp  s elect contact support , and you will be able to see view: cases history at the bottom of the page.

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure which case it was. I tried looking through my email and saw over 150 emails so I wasn't able to go back and check.

Yes, it seems to have worked for one of the computers but I haven't yet checked the other one. On the other one (the one I used to receive faxes last year) has Adobe Acrobat Pro installed but I'm not sure if it is the most up to date version or if Adobe Reader is installed.

In older versions of the desktop software I was able to use Adobe Acrobat Pro to open PDF's and Foxit Reader as well. Let's hope it keeps on working.

There was one problem though was that I had to go back and manually print each of the unread faxes from the previous day. I used to be able to receive them and have them printed when the computer would wake from sleep each morning when we got into the office. I brought this issue up with the support rep helping me yesterday and he just recommended that I either look through them each day to make sure all faxes are printed (this isn't that practical for me) or keep my computer on 24/7. I have chosen the latter method. I tried sending myself a test fax this morning while my the computer I use to print the faxes was asleep but the fax did not print when I awoke the computer. It just showed as unread in the desktop software as well as online on the Ringcentral portal.

I hope you find these additional data points useful.

Thank you for checking in on the problem Kim.
