Is there a way to tell if my colleague is on the phone with someone?

If I need to pass a lead call to another colleague to do a demo, I'm wondering if there is a way for me to tell whether or not he/she is on another call prior to me sending the sales call to the sales rep to do the demo?

Yes  just using Presence -  via either FAVORITES in the actual phone handset, or  if you are using the softphone  RingCentral for Windows it will show on screen, unless they have chosen to obscure that info in their own preference settings.

Hello  Ryann Falke

Great question.  Yes!  There is a way to do this through a feature called Presence.   Here is an articles that explain how to set this up.

Presence Frequently Asked Questions

And you if your team uses the RingCentral Desktop App, then you might find the HUD feature very helpful.

Desktop App: What is HUD?

Let us know if this helps.

In your desk phone, go to the button:  Home > DIrectories > Contacts .... then Choose the PLUS SIGN icon + to add the user or group to the local Contacts Directory for "Contacts"  then Press the onscreen  STAR icon  while in the Contact record to add them as a "Favorite"    they will then appear on your touchscreen in available slots onscreen up to the limit of your phone's display capabilities.

Still having problems seeing whether or not my colleagues are on another line. I am having them go to their settings today, then going to their presence to enable it, then adding our group to the "selected users" but how do I add that feature on our desk phone? Is there no way we can see it on the ring central website? We work on chrome boxes, so we can't download anything, including extra apps like HUD.
