Dialing *2 transfers my outbound call to my cell phone? Why?

I am in the US, dialing another US client's office from my softphone and their automated attendant answers.  My options are to dial the extension of the person I want to reach, or dial *2 for their dial-by-name directory.

I do not know the extension of the person I am calling, so I dial *2.  My call is transferred, I hear 4+ rings, and get the voice mail to MY OWN CELL PHONE.  Tested this 3 times.  What just happened?

*2 is a shortcut for call flip.  Call flip transfers your current call to your other device.  Maybe you can disable call flip?

I think Brian is correct about call flip, however I also think disabling will not help, unfortunately.  * as a leading digit is reserved for RingCentral features and cannot be used as leading digit into AA/IVR systems.  It would be a good feature request to have some type of 'escape sequence' to allow when needed.  For example, dialing *44* could transmit *

@brian I thought perhaps this was shorthand for something.  Can someone please point me in the direction of a exhaustive list of shortcuts?

Brian and Brandon are both correct. However an admin on the account can make a request to turn this feature off. I'll merge this thread to a related post with more detail.
