This holiday season I have been receiving calls to my (800) number that just play endless flamenco music and no one answers if I speak or wait on the line. Calling back the caller IDs I get random normal people who say they have no idea what I'm talking about so the caller ID is being spoofed. I called Ringcentral support to see it was a technical problem and they told me it is not their fault and it is spam and the only help they gave me was to tell me to change my phone number. I have two questions:
1) what is the purpose of these spam calls if no one comes on the line to sell me something
2) can ringcentral really not identify where calls are coming from even if the caller ID is spoofed? I would think they could still see IP addresses or something ??
Obviously changing my business phone number is not a solution.
I would appreciate anyone's insight into this situation.
