Amazon Fire Tablet - not ringing

Just installed RingCentral on my latest-gen Fire Tablet HD8, and no matter what settings I play with, the app never rings. I can see the notification of an incoming call on the screen, but there's no actual tone emitted by the Fire. 

I've been through all the settings both in the RingCentral app and in the Fire Tablet's Notifications menu, made sure the volume is all the way up...I just can't get sound. I'm hoping to use my tablet to wake me up in case of a work-related call, so I need to find a way to make sound happen when someone calls me. 

Is there a way and I just can't find it?

Hi Michael,  Amazons Fire tablets run Amazons own Fire OS operating system.  Although they use some Android code, they are a different OS and are not supported. Therefor we have not tested nor can we troubleshoot any features that may not work. However if there are any other Fire users that have a solution please chime in.

Thanks for this info Mike, we were looking at getting some of these, now with that info - you saved us the mistake.  Do I understand this to mean that as long as the tablet is on a current version of  truly native Android, we can use the Android Ring central Mobile App on it?

In most cases yes, but... I can't say that this is true 100% of the time.  There are also some hardware requirements.

Another thing not mentioned is that even if you have a device with a current version of Android OS,  I've some some older or cheaper devices that don't have both front and rear facing cameras, which of course is needed by the RC Meeting application.  

In most cases as long as your android device is less than a couple years old it should work fine.

Thanks Mike - our Android tablets have both front and rear facing cams and are only about 6 months old.
