Carrier Incoming call interrupts ringcentral call on Android

Hi,

Account type: Canada

My employee is using an android google pixel and when using the ringcentral app to make a voip call it gets interrupted with a carrier incoming call.  The iphone app uses integrated calling. Is there a setting or way to have android behave in the same way as iOS integrated calling without getting interrupted?

Rick,

For what it's worth, I have used Motorola Droid phones (Droid and Turbo) for the past 6 years with RingCentral and never had that issue. I don't know anything about the new Google Pixel phone (now using an iPhone 7 Plus) but with my Motorola phones it always gave me a notification that a call was coming in and it allowed me to make a determination whether to take the call or send it to voice mail. There is no setting in the mobile app that would work that way.

Has your employee tried using the Integrated Calling option? The Google Pixel phone might have the same type of problem that iOS initially had. Just a shot in the dark.

Jan,

Just to clarify what I mean by interrupting...when the incoming carrier call comes it won't beep in the ear like the iphone app acting as if it were a regular call.  Instead the phone actually 'rings' loud and is pretty intrusive.  I can answer the call and it puts the ringcentral call on hold and I can resume afterwards but the annoyance is the ringing of the phone when carrier call comes.  I had another colleague try with their samsung and have the same issue.  I am not a programmer but isn't android supposed to be more open than iOS in terms of what apps can do?

Is the issue i'm having expected behaviour?

Thanks for the clarification. I thought it wasn't letting you accept any calls. I just recreated the situation your employee is having on my wife's Motorola Droid Turbo Android phone and it also rang, just as you described above. It would seem to me that it is the default behavior in the Android OS.

I am a RingCentral Partner/reseller and not an employee. I'm sure that Mike or one of the RingCentral staff who monitor these forums will change this to an idea or an app defect so that the development team can take a look at it.

Jan is correct.  I'm moving this to a related thread where you'll see a response from Ted, one of our Product Managers.
