Blocking all calls for the RingCentral assigned phone number

I have a main company number that I use for my business that I give out to all my contacts.  I also have the RingCentral given number that I do not use and do not give out to anyone.  However, I get substantial amount of unsolicited calls and faxes through this number that are annoying and disrupting to my business.
How can I block all calls to this number while still getting calls made to my company main number.  I called tech support and they tell me this feature is not available. Come on!! Isn't this a software company?
Any suggestions/solutions?

Ernesto,

Sure you can. Select the extension that number is assigned to then go to Screening, Greeting & Hold Music...then Blocked Calls. Click on the radio button which says Block all calls.

If you have not assigned an extension to that particular number, simply do so in order for the procedure to work. As Danno stated, that number should not be assigned to the default Super Admin extension of x101. If it's a separate digital line number make sure it is assigned to some other extension.

Thank you Jan for your prompt response.  The tech support agent told me that if I block all calls for that phone, I will not be able to get any calls at all, even from people calling the main line.
Is this not correct?  I guess I can try....

Again he is not correct. See the screen capture below. You can indicate WHICH CALLS you WANT to accept.

Unfortunately, the number given is assigned to my extension (admin).

If that is your ONLY DL (digital line) then this whole procedure will not work. Your main number (if it's NOT a digital line) must be forwarded to another extension/DL for you to be able to accept calls.

For example, my main number is a toll-free number. WHen people call it I forward it to my DL so I can accept calls. I only have one DL. If I were to block all calls on it, then I would not be able to receive any calls.

Similarly, if I were to block ALL calls on my main number/Super Admin extension (x101) I would not be able to forward ANY calls to my direct/digital line since it wouldn't get past the main number.

Cool beans.  Just in case, sounds like you are a single user, but if down the road you add more seats, this would block internal calling too, so the other users would need to Intercom you.

That's because, even though the other user is calling your extension number, technically they are still dialing your 10-digit number.  Make sense?

I got you. I have a small office with 3 people (3 extensions) so we always never use internal extensions to communicate.  A good yell is all it takes....
Cheers,

Assuming your extension is the super admin, you cannot do it through blocked calls (since it will block calls to your main number too).  You'll need to do it via advanced rules under your extension.

Danno,

I did just that. Pretty intuitive and easy and I think it is working fine.
Thanks a lot for you help.
