Forwarding Fax by Email

Re: Fax service -  what if the customer's email service does not support attachments over the size of 10 mbs? If we select "include attachment with email", and the attachment size is greater than 10 mbs, will we still receive the notification email? Also, from the admin portal, should I want to send a fax received by email to someone else, is there a way for me to tell how large the attachment will be before I send it?

Hello Rodriguez,

Regarding the 10 MB size and whether or not it will be received, I would imagine not but is that number regarding sending files or receiving them? If there is no limit on the size of files received you should be fine but I know some emails don't allow you to send over a certain size.

Our webportal doesn't give a size estimate of the files being faxed, however, you could always check the file information before sending it to see what the size is.

Thanks Saadet. Yes, we have a limit on file sizes received. So if a fax comes in that is larger than our limit, I'm guessing Ring Central's notification email will bounce back, meaning the only way we will know that a fax was received would be to just log on and see if there is one there?

With respect to the webportal, it would be ideal if Ring Central would find a way to show the size limit of an attachment, so that when we forward a fax via email through your portal, we can determine if the size limit will be a factor. Based on your suggestion above, without Ring Central showing that information to its customer from the webportal, I would have to download the fax on my computer before sending it via email through your portal in order to see the file size. That's time-consuming, and I don't want to download every fax before I can send it.

You can always opt to not have the attachment included in the email and you will still receive an email letting you know you have a fax waiting.

I can understand the frustration regarding not knowing the size limit. Feel free to post a feature request on it so that others can vote and our Product Team can see it :)
