I can't speak to RIngCentral's versioning format however the norm for all software versioning is: MM.mm.rr.bb

MM = Major version
mm = Minor version
rr    = Release Number
bb   = Build Number

The third set of numbers would be incredibly high for a release number since there have not been that many releases. It might well be the build number. The fourth set of numbers would be normal for a release number as well.

I would say that as long as all the numbers are higher than the previous set of numbers you might have installed, it will be a newer version. In the example above, version 4.4.78643.0106 would be newer than 3.6.34736.1210.
