Airpods instead of headphones

I would like to find out how to use my Airpods instead of headphones when making calls.  I am not able to hear anything.

I have SUPER news!  My airpods ARE working with RingCentral on my desktop!!! YAY!

That is great but they are not on mine.  What did you do to fix the issue.  My mic works, but I get no sound.

Actually since I wrote that comment, they actually didn't work and messed up the my internal speakers settings on my work laptop.  I had to have IT fix it. :(

I am having the exact same issue with my samsung galaxy buds.  I purchased them thinking this would work.  Any tips?
