Caller ID of SMS to show Main Number

We would like the caller ID on outgoing texts to be able to be the main number for all extensions for the desktop and mobile app.  Right now the only one who can use the main number is the operator.  This is the number all our clients know, so we want the outgoing ID to be the main number for all extensions if we choose to do so.

Please allow our outbound text messages to show the main number.

This is a very important feature that our business also needs. The direct number is an out of state number. It causes a bit of suspicion from our customers. Please fix this asap.

Figured out a work around which works for my company ...with some limitations.

In our case we have a queue group that we want everyone (3 of us) in the queue to be able to text from.  (this ability to set the outbound caller ID to the queue number stopped  at the same time the ability to choose the main number disappeared.).

We each  og into Ring Central Chrome client using the queue group extension.  We can choose the line we want to text from (we have several associated with our queue group).  the texts will go to every client logged in - although there can be some  timing delays between sending and it showing up on others computers.  We avoid tripping over each other as we have one main person who handles texts.  We have one person who typically handles most of the texts.

We then use the Regular Ring Central Client on our PC's, mobile phones etc.  Downside is that we need to use our computers to text --- but in our business, someone is in front of their computer most of the time.

Its not a perfect solution by any means, but it makes life a bit simpler.

Summary:  We log into Chrome Ring Central Plug/in / Extension using the Main Number + Queue group extension and text from there.

We use the regular ring central desktop clients on all other devices to log into our regular extensions.

Good luck !

Thank you for sharing your work around. This just sounds crazy though! I just signed up for Ringcentral and am already having doubts if I made the right decision...I just don't understand why they would have removed this option...

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Main SMS number is not showing up. This is related to an Article about  Caller ID of SMS to show Main Number
