Block or Text 5 Digit Numbers

I'd like to be able to block these type of numbers. We receive 1-2 SPAM messages a week from 5 digit numbers.Note: This conversation was created from a reply on: Unable to send SMS to a 5-digit number.

Any updates on this? Our organization has been getting unsolicited login codes from apps we don't use, and would like to be able to block the numbers out of concern someone is trying to scam us (I do not want to reply because that would let a potential scammer know our number is "live"). Here's an example:

(Context: MAZON is an anti-hunger advocacy organization. Sammy is an Administrative Assistant, Barb is our COO. Neither had even heard of the Cash App that claimed to be sending the message, and we do not use it in our operations.)

Hi all!

I'm unable to test this myself, but if you block the 5 digit number on the RingCentral (glip) app and via your online account, does it work? I'm being told that it should be working now so I wanted to verify with you :)

If it's not working, can you please share some screenshots?

If you read through the thread most don't want to block individual users with each spam they get after the fact.
Very time consuming and frustrating for users and admins alike.

Can you explain how to block a text in glip, the only option I can see is to delete the individual message, I see no option to block.

Hey K McDaid, right now we haven't added that functionality to the desktop app. We're working on closing our feature gaps between the RingCentral Phone and RingCentral app next year. However, you can block the number via the RingCentral Mobile App

Blocking the number wont work. Many vendors subscribe to services. For example 313131 is a service. Some people spam text through it and others are legit that I need the info from. I cant block numbers or it will affect my business. We NEED your service to properly work and allow us to text back so we can unsubscribe from the right services.

A good example of why blocking can be bad is with 2 factor authentication. If the legit account and the spammer are using the same service you could end up locked out of your account.

I just voted and the number of votes didn't change. We really need a way to administratively control this type of communication! As an Admin, I should be able to confirm that a blocked 5 or 6 digit number is not one of our extensions, and on the blocked number list it shouldn't add a 1 to the front.

Hey! Ringcentral, are you listening?! DO SOMETHING ABOUT BLOCKING 5 DIGIT NUMBERS! I get ten texts a day from a political campaign and it's absolutely ridiculous that a company with the technical savvy as RC cannot do something about this. People have been complaining about this for 2 years! C'mon, people, that is unnacceptable.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Disabling Ability To Receive Texts. A few days ago we started getting text spam for the first time
ever. Now it's gradually picking up and we are now getting several a day including a few that come from just 5 digits instead of a an actual phone number we can block. In short: how can we stop receiving texts all together? It would be a great to be able to check a box to never receive texts. We've never received them until recently (and not one has been legit) and we have no desire to ever get them. In just a week it's gone from 1 a day to several a day. If these keep up it's likely going to be a much larger issue here very soon. Example:
