New Update requires a password

After doing the recent update, a password is now required when using Ring Central Meetings.  Can this default be turned off if you use the new meeting icon? I do see how to disable it if you schedule a meeting or use a personal meeting ID.

We're experiencing the same thing: passwords are needed when joining a meeting using a mobile device. We don't have to input a password while joining on a desktop, but our mobile users, which happen to be 95% of our team at this time, are annoyed with the change.

Hi Everyone,

According to our Product Team, this is included in the new update. I have flipped this question into a feature request so that anyone who doesn't like the changes can vote on this.

Thank you!

I'm not sure how we'd respond to that. I don't think, generally, we have a problem with meeting passwords. The issue is that hitting the "New Meeting" button within RC seems to auto-generate a password, but that the button to join the meeting doesn't provide it so nobody can join.

So, feature=good, implementation=bad. How should I vote?

How can it require a password without our knowledge? Where does the password come from? How do I notify someone of a password I did not create?

Jonathan - I completely feel your frustrations. Unfortunately, it looks like RC pushed out this update without thinking it'd be a hindrance to clients. My guess is that the password was required for some kind of security cert with Zoom.

Regardless, the password can be found by the host by clicking Invite at the bottom of the RC Meetings window. A new window will pop up and the password will be located in the bottom right of that window. I believe it'll be a randomly generated six digit password.

I'm not sure that's always the case. If you have an established team within RC and you attempting to start a meeting with the "Start Video Call" button then we've found that some (but not all) users are prompted for a password. The password is not listed in the chat, so those people cannot join.

Some users have found if they copy the "Meeting URL" line and paste that into a web browser then they can join (the URL includes ?pwd=<long random string of characters>). This workaround doesn't work for users of the RingCentral mobile app.

Once again, looks like a bodged release by the RC team.
