Presence: How can I answer another users call with presence?

I have a coworkers extension on my phone using presence. I want to be able to answer the call if he is out or on the phone.

Instead of using presence to answer the main line, you could use a Ring Group.

Chuck is correct.   To set this up, go to Settings > My Settings > Phones & Numbers > Presence > Permissions > make sure "Allow other users to see my presence" is set to On and the other person's extension is selected in the scrolling list.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Picking up a call from another extension. HOW??. We currently use the Polycom VVX 310 phones in our office. We would like to know how to place a call on hold and pick up from another phone/extension without having to transfer the call. IS this possible?

Heather,

We have started using the new "Parked Locations" feature at our company. In the Groups menu, you can create parked locations and assign them to softkeys on the Polycom phone. For us it is as easy as pressing that soft key to place a call in the park location. As long as the other phone also has that Park location assigned to a soft key, all you have to do is press the assigned soft key to pick up a call that has been placed there. Check it out!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled How do I hear other line ringing on my desk phone?. I am in Canada.  I monitor my bosses phone line, and want to hear when his line is ringing on my phone.  Permissions are all set up, and I thought I had set up our account so that I can hear his line ring (and answer it, if needed) on my phone, but it is not working.  A Ring Central rep has set up a Group showing that I monitor his phone, however it still does not work.  I need to be able to see all the other users lines on my phone, but only want to hear when that 1 other line rings.  Please help.

I am not sure why my question was merged here?  I understand the "presence" component, and am able to see other lines and pick them up if I want.  What I cannot do is hear when my bosses line is ringing.  I do not want to hear ALL of the lines that I can see, just his.  Please assist.

Elana - it was merged to keep topics organized and together.

There is a option that needs to be selected under Phones & Numbers > Presence> to have your phone ring when another person's phone that you are monitoring rings.

The option that I have is to choose "Ring my phone when any user I am monitoring rings".  I do not want all monitored lines to ring on my phone, just one of the extensions.  Please advise how to do this.  I was told it could be done.

Correct - this option needs to be selected in order for the phone to ring.  You cannot choose to have 1 line to ring and not others that you monitor...it's all or none.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Presence: How do I pick up another phone that's ringing?. There have been several posts on this exact question, but no real answers...."Presence" is NOT the answer that others have been seeking, nor is it the answer for us.  We do NOT have presence-capable phones and don't need them.

What we need is to know the STAR-KEY sequence to use to pick up a call that is RINGING to another phone (not a call that has already gone to VM or has been Parked, but one that is still ringing).

This is called "Call Pickup" when an extension is ringing and we
want to pick it up BEFORE it goes to voicemail - Presence is NOT the
same thing at all, nor is using "shared" lines a solution.

The Polycom phones we have are capable of this, and it's usually a very simple thing to do - but the actual star-key sequence is set by the PROVIDER, not the phone hardware.  With our old VOIP provider it was *98, with other non-VOIP providers it's usually something like *55.  Every telecom service provider has this feature.

I
just need to know what the star-key sequence is for RingCentral.  We
don't want to change our routing, nor to buy new phones - we just need to occasionally be able to pick up a
coworkers ringing phone if they've stepped away - we try to be sure all
calls are answered whenever possible.

Did you ever get an answer to this?  I'm struggling with getting Call Pickup to work too.

Hi Jim, I have call pickup via presence setup everywhere for my customers.  Not sure what the issues is, I would probably have to look at your config but something is missing obviously.

Feel free to contact me and I could login and assist you

Did we ever get an answer to this? I am in the same boat. I want to intercept a ringing phone before it gets to voicemail or another ring group if I know that ring group staff are not available. Thanks, Jeff

I think making it to choosing between a quiet monitor (extension appearing on phone) and a ringing monitor (be able to intercept a call and it ring your desk) would be a good option to have.
So here could be the options.
1. have the extension just appear not ring and not be able to pick up (aka presence)
2. have the extension appear and ring (aka monitor and be allowed to pick up)
3.have the extension appear and not ring but be able to still pick up (quiet monitor?)

any thoughts or other suggestions?

How is this 2 years old and still not a feature that can be used.
For a phone system the facts its an all or nothing setting is just sloppy.

Make sure the extension you're trying to answer is on your phone and then make sure the extension you're trying to answer is allowing people to pick up its calls.

Remember the phone you have HAS to SUPPORT presence.

Earlier phones like the IP335 and 3rd party SIP phones like grand stream or some off brand  will not work

What type of phone do you have?
