I can attest that I too ran into problems when I upgraded to 8.1.  The RingCentral for windows was working perfectly on 8.0 prior to 8.1, and I waited almost a year before doing the 8.1 upgrade.  In any case, what I ended up doing was (1) logging out of program, (2) de-authorizing the softphone via the portal, (3) DE installing RC 4 Windows program and removing all its associated files.  Make sure not in your download folder too.  Did a PC restart.  Loaded latest and greatest version of RC4Windows - and was back in business. That was December and have had no issues since.  Hope this helps!

Debbie,   I would also recommend doing a complete clean re-install as Danno suggested.  It is odd that it will sometimes open, and other times not. When you are re-intalling it be sure to watch closely for any prompts your security software might give you asking for certain permissions.  If you continue to have problems, you may want to give our support team a call and go through it over phone.
