I have tried un-installing and re installing and this has not helped.

I can attest that I too ran into problems when I upgraded to 8.1. The RingCentral for windows was working perfectly on 8.0 prior to 8.1, and I waited almost a year before doing the 8.1 upgrade. In any case, what I ended up doing was (1) logging out of program, (2) de-authorizing the softphone via the portal, (3) DE installing RC 4 Windows program and removing all its associated files. Make sure not in your download folder too. Did a PC restart. Loaded latest and greatest version of RC4Windows - and was back in business. That was December and have had no issues since.
