RingCentral Rooms - Windows option NOT Mac or Macmini

Hello

I have the kit list for Ringcentral Rooms however it indicates that an Ipad & Macmini is required.  We are mainly a laptop & windows based users.

Is the IPad & Macmini a requirement or can we control from users laptops?

Thanks

Stewart

Hi Stewart,

iPad or Mac mini is one of the other devices you can use with RingCentral Rooms, not a requirement. Your laptop and Windows computers will work fine. :)

Thanks, our security setup at present is windows devices only so the room based system isn't an option then for us.

I'm working on getting more clarification and details put into the user guide. I realize it's not clear enough.

A little more clarification

iPad is the keyboard to control the Mac machine.  Rooms appinstalled in the iPad is like a Meetings app" to let you start or join ameeting (no scheduling).  So if a company wants to set up Rooms in aconference room, Mac and iPad are required. To start/join a meeting from a Room system, you can only do itfrom iPad.
I can't give, or guarantee any ETA, but Windows support is under discussion and hopefully available early next year.

Over at Zoom, they've added the Intel NUC as an approved device.  I believe RC will be doing so also, sometime in 2017.  It won't change the Ipad requirement though, as I understand it.

I think what we will end up doing in running a mini PC behind the screen with a wireless keyboard and mouse and hooking up a Logitech Group Camera system and use the RC meetings premium option.  Lose a bit of functionality I guess but a decent start
