RC Meeting links fail to open unified app

Hello,

We are an RC organization. We use RC for meetings and phone (VoIP services). We use Slack for messages.

My question concerns transitioning to the RC unified app from RC meetings with the Mac client. It might also apply to the Windows client, I have not tested that yet.

Prior to transitioning, RC meeting links in the Outlook client would launch the RC meetings application. After the transition to the unified app, the RC Meetings app still launches (links will not launch the unified app). I've deleted the RC Meetings app from the Mac that I use and that does not change the behavior - instead of launching Meetings, links instead will launch a browser and direct the user to a RC page encouraging download and use of the Meetings app, which is not the desired behavior - as mentioned, we are transitioning some users to the unified app - we prefer not to launch Meetings from the Meetings app, since we are transitioning.

How can we change the behavior of meetings links within Outlook to launch the RC unified app and not to launch the RC Meetings app?

Please note that it is essential that meeting links work within Outlook clients, not within the RC app itself (the RC calendar) or within the O365 web client. We are aware that there is a supported use case within the RC app, but the use case we need to support would initiate from within Outlook. We are also aware that there are some features possible within the O365 web client, but we have not tested and will not be evaluating those features, because the organization is standardized on fat clients (Macs and Windows 10).

Please advise of our options. Thank you.

Hi Rique,

Arthur from product management here - I would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused, unfortunately, the teams are still working on a resolution for this issue. For now the workaround we have is to launch meetings directly from the RC App - if you integrate your O365 accounts, it will pull up a list of meetings and you can click Join directly.

Head over to your Meetings icon > Today's upcoming meetings > Click on J oin now

Arthur,

Thanks for the reply.

As I indicated when I asked the question, "We are aware that there is a supported use case within the RC app, but the use case we need to support would initiate from within Outlook. We are also aware that there are some features possible within the O365 web client, but we have not tested and will not be evaluating those features, because the organization is standardized on fat clients (Macs and Windows 10)."

Also, while we are on the subject - one thing I noticed about using the unified app to launch a meeting is that the icon to join the meeting is not available within the app until the meeting start time. That's not convenient for folk that prefer to join a few minutes early. Again, there is a workaround, which is to copy the link and paste it into the meetings module - but once again, we are forced to rely on a workaround instead of making the feature more convenient to use.

Thanks again for the reply.

Regards,
Rique S.
