Desktop App: Coordinate with my desk phone

I am using my phone in a reception type setup and sometimes I use a headset others I am using my cisco phone. I would like the ability to dial out from either device. I am a single user in this case but I also have a client that is an insurance business with the same issue they have an agent that acts as the receptionist and would like the convenience of being able to switch from phone to on screen when they are calling doing telemarketing. Is there a way to do this without having to pay for a second user. in both cases the RC softphone is singing in to the same extension as the phone?

Hello Everyone,

This type of setting is very much possible with the system. In fact, many users here at RingCentral use both their physical phone and softphone to make and receive calls.

Here are the settings you will want to implement:

To receive inbound calls on both the softphone and physical device -
1) Go into the Call Handling & Forwarding Section on the web portal
2) Select Desktop Apps & Smartphones
3) Set Notify my Desktop to 0 Seconds (as shown below)

This ensures that the softphone and desk phone will ring at the same time when anyone calls the user's direct dial number. With this implemented the user may pick up either device when receiving a call.

To make an outbound call with the softphone but pick it up with the deskphone you will want to RingOut on the softphone

1) Select the Options button (located on the softphone)

2) Select Calls
3) Select Outgoing
4) Select the RingOut option
5) The device on the extension will be defaulted
6) I always suggest turning off the Prompt me to dial 1 before connecting

With this set up, when you place an outbound call on the softphone it will ring the deskphone and then the user can pick it up.
