RingCentral ClickToDial inserts unexpected content into Vue apps

Account Type: US

Business: Ad Tech

Case Number: #07431235

The customer support agent that assisted me with my case asked me to submit a feature request about this issue.

The popular frontend framework Vue adds a special randomly-generated attribute to all HTML elements. This attribute is just a string of characters that helps Vue define a scope.

Your 'RingCentral for Google' extension occasionally inserts a <rc-c2d-number> element into these Vue elements. RC occasionally thinks the randomly-generated attribute is a phone number. This causes information to display that wasn't meant to display, leading to security and privacy issues.

Vue is so common that this is a potential issue for thousands of sites.

Please find a screenshot of the unexpected <rc-c2d-number> element below.

Hey David, currently this is a feature request with no ETA (since it's pretty new). I have brought it up to our Integrations team for their review. If I hear anything about it, I will update this thread

I have the exact same problem in Smartsheet. A value of entered into a cell intended to appear as "PIN 659100624441" becomes "PIN<rc-c2d-number data-rc-number=" 659100624441"> 659100624441</rc-c2d-number>". Blacklisting the Smartsheet domain in the RC extension setting does not help. Very irritating problem. Please fix asap. Thank you, Peden Harris
