Fax: Increase file attachment size limit.

FAXING: increase attachment size from 20 MB to 30MB, since most scanners scan to the full capacity around 30MB per max load of scanned documents

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Ridiculously small fax size. I work for a medical facility which regularly sends large faxes and was advised that RC was able to accommodate this, only to find out the hard way that they faxes can only be 20MB max. The option to send larger faxes is urgently needed. I would not have gone with RC had I known this.

I understand what you're going through, I work in a medical office as well. We now have to print files as PDFs then upload them to RC for the purposes of faxes out. It's tripled the time required to fax out a chart (I spent 30 minutes just on one record request of a large chart with multiple providers).

In the legacy Softphone we would regularly send out large faxes and never usually had issues with sending them out (our issue seemed to be more receiving large faxes that were 30+ pages [which happens regularly in a medical office ...]).

A way to greatly increase the file size would be appreciated. Even if the user sends a massive fax and RC then breaks up that fax into segments.

Increase it to 50MB, in order to accommodate the full load. I'm a financial advisor, and I'm constantly using RC. However, i have been very limited by the capabilities lately due to the lack of ability to handle the size of my faxes for my clients. Most of which has a time deadline, and I have to use other sources in order to send my fax.

Why continue to pay for a service that can't fulfill your FULL BUSINESS needs?

The size limit needs to be increased for this to be a useful service.  I may have to go back to a traditional fax machine.  This is absurd

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Faxed file attachments must be greater than 5mb. limit available. Request: Faxing attachments via new version of soft phone MUST have a greater than 5mb limit for file size. Perfectly fine with the under 20 mb limit, but almost everything our firm sends is over 5mb and it is a huge waste of time and resources to parse down every file we try to fax out.

If this limitation stays in place, we will likely have to find another provider.

Hilton,

We don't usually send out large faxes ( > 5MB ) so having a version of soft phone which would be required to have file sizes be 5MB or larger would not only hurt us but MANY businesses. The attachments we routinely send (and receive) are less that 500k as they might be a PDF file or Word document or the like.

I don't understand where you indicate in your post that you need to parse down every file every file that is over 5MB. I just sent a test fax, from my soft phone, which included three attachments...two were less than 200k and one was 7.5MB. I did not have to parse down the large file nor have I ever had to do so whenever I sent out the occasional large file from my soft phone.

Can you be a little more specific in regards to how/why you need to parse down any attached file in a fax sent out from your soft phone?

When I fax 30-50 pages which includes about 4 attachments some are Word documents and some are Adobe files which in total are more than 20MB. Therefore I have to send 2 separate faxes... faxes are from my PC.

DeJong,

Understood...however that is different from what Hilton is requesting. He said, if I understand his request correctly, he's fine with the 20MB limit but wants any INDIVIDUAL attachment to be required to be at least 5MB in size.

I notice that you did vote for the functionality you are requesting. Now it's up to the RingCentral development team to read and evaluate the requests of those voting for this feature.

Picking a fixed upper limit size isn't the answer. RC needs to make it a user controlled value in settings. Our application automatically identifies which of our clients can handle large faxes before sending the faxes to RC. If they throttle what we can do, we'll need to find another platform to use.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled File limit for faxes.

I am a new user to Ring Central and so far have liked many of the features but just came across an issue regarding faxes, the file size limit is currently 20MB and I have situations where I need to send as well as received faxes in excess of this limit. I would like to request an increase with this limit to allow submission and receipt of faxes as this greatly affects my business.
