This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled When will windows default dialer feature be added to new soft phone?. When are they going to bring back the feature then enable RingCentral Softphone to be set as the windows default dialer? This is how we initiated call from our CMS program which then also started a timer with a window to type in phone notes. It was obviously available on the old version. I just want an idea of when this will be added. I won't be updating everyone to the new soft phone until it is and I am axiously awaiting. Any information would be helpful. Thank you.

It's mind-blowing to me, that a company as large as RingCentral, can have both the Windows and OSX desktop apps not take over protocol handlers for SIP:// or TEL:// links. This desperately needs to be implemented as quickly as possible. Browser extensions are not the answer. Just use standard protocol handlers. Thanks!

I merged this discussion into a related topic as this feature is still planned, but I do not have a release date yet.  We'll update the status on this page as soon I have more details.

There have been a few changes, but there's till not a true click to dial function. The closest thing at this time is to use the new advanced hot key functions.  Just highlight the number you want to dial, and press the hot key for "outgoing call", which is set at "F6" by default but you can change it by going to Settings > General and look under the "advanced hotkeys" section.

Well it seems to support TEL but it doesn't support SIP which could be my issue. But I can def no longer use my desktop CRM (even though I could on old softphone) which clearly the protocol the old softphone used that made it work is no longer being used by new softphone :( Also it would be nice if when using ringout it would auto dial like with the old softphone instead of just using a cut/paste and having to confirm the dial several times after that.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Add url.tel protocol that allows Click-to-Call from Browser. new softphone no longer supports tel: link that would previously allow clicking on a phone number (generally within a web browser / website) and it auto-dials in the Softphone Application.

I found a way to make the "Click to Call" and RingOut work together (a blend between RC API+Firefox).  You need it here?

a) Install FireFox b) Install the Add-On Telify (from their website or search on the Add-Ons page from Firefox) c) If you want to use your desktop Phone, Configure the RingOut Feature. d) Enjoy!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Desktop App: Click to Dial Support. When using the RingCentral Softphone on Windows 7, it will allow clicking a phone number in a web browser (i.e. Chrome) to auto-dial with the softphone. This makes it very helpful for large call volume using an online CRM (such as Microsoft Dynamics). Unfortunately, on Windows 8 the feature no longer works. Windows offers to associate Sykpe, Lync, and other programs with the Click-to-Dial functionality but the RingCentral Softphone app is conspicuously absent.
