RingCentral Meetings: attendees not required to download app

RingCentral Meetings: screen sharing without participant downloading.

I work with attendees on Ring Central Meetings that are NOT tech savvy.  They often have trouble downloading the required plugin before launching a Ring Central Meetings session.  I know similar services don't require any software to be downloaded.  Is this planned for future versions of RC Meetings?

I agree! I certainly would like to see that as well. I "liked" this to hopefully get more consideration.

We've had to use alternative tools because the attendees didn't have the necessary rights on their computers to load the client. Definitely would be beneficial to let those users in security tight operations be able to view the shared screen from within their web browser.

I would like to bump this as well - it's a pain having a client download an application to join a screen share meeting.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Join Meetings from Browser, without need for Application. The suite of RingCentral products works perfectly for my company, with the exception of one thing:  RingCentral Meetings require the desktop application for screen sharing.  Sure, people can call in from a phone, but it would be great to have a browser-based extension (Google Chrome, Firefox, etc) where people can join the Meeting with full video support.

The pain point we're facing: We send an invitation for a RC Meeting to a client, and they're required to download and install an application to see the screen share.

A browser extension, or web app that allows guests to join a meeting directly from the browser, rather than being prompted to install an application would be ideal.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled RingCentral Meetings: Browser View. Hey there.

So, we are a business consulting company and we do live webinars for prospective new clients.  Currently we use join.me to share our screen for the powerpoint presentation.  The join.me allows us to share a web link to our prospects where they can open the screen being shared right in their browser.  This way they don't have to download a program.  Is there any way you can add this feature to RingCentral?  It would be nice if we could cut out join.me and just use it through our normal RingCentral account.

We're getting more and more complaints lately from our sales dept that this is a problem with new potential customers. While it would make sense for established customers to make sure their IT dept gets RingCentral Meetings working so they can get support from us, it does not make sense that someone that isn't a customer yet go through all this trouble just to become a customer. We're going to be forced to look at another service instead so we don't have this problem anymore...

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled RingCentral Meetings: screen sharing without participant downloading an .exe. Account type = UK

A brief description of the business = We're an IT consultancy company

A high level description of the product or feature being requested = We work with some clients (and prospective clients) who have very locked down computers so they are not able to download .exe files like those needed to attend a Ring Central meeting. Therefore, my idea is to allow for a very basic screenshare (i.e. none of the advanced collaboration features; I understand why those require the exe to be downloaded and installed) to be available without the need for a the application to be downloaded. The best example of this is the join.me basic screensharing option.

A typical use case scenario explaining how your business would use the feature = There are several. After a development sprint we want to show the client a demo of what we've built but not all of them can make it to be there physically, we can just share a link and they can watch the demo. Another is with a prospective client, we want to show them a presentation or some demos they simply follow the link to watch what we're doing on screen.

Benefit of such feature = This would stop us needing to go through the debate of whether the participants can download exe files before the meeting. Sometimes that's fine but in circumstances where you just want something to work quickly and not risk delaying the start of the meeting this feature would be much appreciated. It would also mean me not using other products like join.me and have all my conferencing needs met in one tool.

Include any related case number if applicable = N/A

I see Eric requested this a year ago and a few others have come up with the same idea. RingCentral, is this in the plan for future development? Is it being considered?

Kim, can you address to see if this is indeed on the road map for future release? There are other platforms that allow attendees to connect without requiring an install of software to be ran prior to attending. For those organizations that block software install, they cannot attend an RC Meeting at all.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled RingCentral meetings web browser. Will there be a way in the future that RingCentral meetings are available to view through the web browser as some of our clients cannot download the app due to IT restrictions?
